It’s back to the drawing board for Clemson at running back.
Four-star Jae Lamar (Colquitt County, GA) announced a commitment to Georgia on Wednesday, choosing the Bulldogs over Clemson, Miami, Florida State and Auburn.
Lamar picked up his offer from the Tigers back in March after a multi-day unofficial visit. Over the next two months, Lamar would become the top running back target and he was the only player at the position to attend the big official visit weekend in early June.
βIt felt more different than any program I have been to,β Lamar told TCI after his official. βI mean, they just stand out in everything they do.β
As a junior, Lamar carried the ball 112 times and averaged 7.9 yards per attempt, with 11 touchdowns.
Lamar ranks No. 107 overall in the Composite Rankings and No. 8 among all running backs. He also ranks as the 12th-best player in the state of Georgia.
The Tigers have offered two other backs in the 2026 class, but both have already announced commitments to other schools. Who becomes the next target has yet to be determined.
