Clemson has lost a pitcher to the portal.
Reliever Michael Gillen has entered the transfer portal, The Clemson Insider has confirmed.
Gillen spent just one season with the Tigers after transferring from Seton Hall last offseason. He was expected to be a key piece of the pitching staff, but injury limited him to just three appearances. He was ineffective in those outings, finishing with an ERA of 15.43 in just 2.1 innings pitched. He allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits, while striking out one. He didn’t issue any walks, but did hit two batters.
Gillen spent his first two years at Seton Hall, where he had an ERA of 1.51 in 65.2 innings. He had 70 strikeouts to just 19 walks and was a pivotal piece on the backend for the Pirates.
