2027 Recruiting Board: Defensive Backs

While Clemson is attempting to put a bow on the current recruiting class, we have been looking ahead to 2027 and the opening offers the Tigers have dispensed.

In TCI’s final piece in this series, today, we look at the offers that have gone out to defensive backs. So far, four have gone out to corners, and five to safeties.

Corners

The first 2027 recruit to go public with an offer was five-star in-state corner Josh Dobson (Catawba Ridge, Fort Mill). The 6-foot-1 prospect is one of the top players in the class, regardless of position, and the top-rated player in the state. Expect Dobson, who already holds close to 30 offers, to be one of the top priorities in the class.

Four-star corner Jayden Aparicio-Bailey (Oak Mountain, Birmingham, AL) killed it at camp last month, coming away with an offer. The 6-foot-2 defensive back told TCI recently that he came to campus just planning to visit, but once he arrived, he decided to work out. So, the offer was likely coming whether he worked out or not. Aparicio-Bailey already holds two dozen offers, and he was one of the top corners this writer watched during camp.

Four-star Larry Moon III (IMG Academy) picked up his offer on June 2. Standing 6-foot tall, Moon is considered a Top 100 talent and one of the Top 10 corners in the class. He already has more than 40 offers.

Legacy recruit, Christian Chancellor, out of nearby Daniel High, also earned a camp offer. Chancellor is the son of former Clemson standout corner Chris Chancellor. The Tigers currently stand as his only Power-4 offer.

Safeties

Four-star Chance Gilbert (East Coweta, Sharpsburg, GA) announced his offer about two weeks ago. Both 247 and ESPN tab him as the best safety in the class. Gilbert is close to the two dozen offer mark and the 6-foot prospect is a prime candidate to be a five-star in the next update to the 247 rankings.

Four-star Marquis Bryant (Rolesville, NC) nabbed his offer after working out at camp. The 5-foot-11 recruit is a consensus Top 250 talent. He visited for a game last fall, returned in the spring, then attended camp last month. He already has more than 30 offers.

Four-star Garyon Hobbs (Atherton, Louisville, KY) also picked up his offer after an impressive showing at camp. Standing 6-foot and listed at 215 pounds, Hobbs is a big, physical prospect. He already holds more than a dozen offers, including Notre Dame, Michigan and Oklahoma.

Four-star Davion Jones (West Charlotte, NC) worked out at one school camp this summer and it was at Clemson. He would come away with an offer after his performance. Jones now has close to two dozen offers, including Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee and South Carolina.

Harrison Luke, the son of offensive line coach Matt Luke, also picked up an offer the first week of June. While Luke is still unranked by the recruiting services, he has seen his stock blow up once the Tigers gave him his first Power-4 offer. Georgia, Ole Miss, Auburn and Tennessee have all since offered.
