Friday Update On 5-Star Bryce Perry Wright

We are a little more than 24 hours away from Bryce Perry-Wright’s announcement.

The five-star talent, out of Buford (GA) and arguably Clemson’s top recruiting target in the 2026 class, is set to announce a commitment on Saturday during a ceremony set to begin at 5 p.m.

247 ranks Perry-Wright No. 32 overall, No. 2 among all defensive linemen and No. 5 in the state of Georgia.

For multiple reasons, the Tigers were long viewed as the favorite to land Perry-Wright. He has visited Clemson more times than any other school, and he also has a family connection. However, over the past several days, Texas A&M appears to have grabbed the momentum. Texas and Miami are the other two finalists, and while the Longhorns and their deep pockets should never be discounted, it’s the Aggies that seem to have become the biggest obstacle in Clemson’s pursuit.

While there have been several predictions made on the side of Texas A&M, those aren’t always the end-all, be-all. In fact, one of those predictions has already flipped in Clemson’s favor. This thing might still be very much up in the air. It’s easy to lose sight of the fact that in the world of revenue sharing and NIL, recruitments are now littered with negotiations. Negotiations that sometimes continue until just before the announcement.

Clemson certainly isn’t likely to win a bidding war against A&M, or even Texas, for that matter, but the Tigers are hoping it’s the other things they offer on top of the money that will help them win out. The relationships, the track record of development with defensive linemen, and a culture that has attracted Perry-Wright to campus numerous times over the past 18 months.

One more day and we will have our answer. Just maybe this thing isn’t as over as many were starting to assume.
