Former Clemson star DeAndre Hopkins heads into the 2025 season with his third team in as many years, and he has once again acclimated himself quite well already.
After receiving a two-year deal with the Tennessee Titans ahead of the 2023 season, and then being traded from the Titans to the Kansas City Chiefs in October 2024, Hopkins made an impact for the Chiefs while helping them reach the Super Bowl last season.
Now, after signing a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason, Hopkins is hoping to make a similar impact for a Ravens team that has strong Super Bowl aspirations themselves.
Hopkins wasted no time impressing new teammates during Baltimore’s offseason program – players on both sides of the ball had plenty of positive things to say about the 13-year NFL veteran.
One of those players who spoke highly of Hopkins is star cornerback Marlon Humphrey (pictured above), a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro, who has been with the Ravens since they selected him out of Alabama in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
During a recent press conference, Humphrey was asked to give his early impressions of Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro. Humphrey then recalled an “extremely humbling” conversation they had.
“I like D-Hop. I’ve gotten to have some conversations with him. He is ‘Mr. Contested Catch.’ That is for sure. Just having a conversation with him, I thought it was really humbling,” Humphrey said.
“We asked him — me and one of the strength coaches — ‘What do you think about the team from the outside looking in since you’ve been on other teams?’ And he said, ‘It seems like there’s been a piece that’s been missing. I could be that addition. I could not be that addition.’ And to hear a veteran guy, All-Pro guy, Pro Bowl guy say he could be, or he could not be [the piece that’s missing], to me, that was extremely humbling. I feel that he fits the Ravens mold, and I think he’ll fit right in.”
The 33-year-old Hopkins has amassed 984 receptions for 12,965 yards and 83 touchdowns during his Hall of Fame-caliber career with the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Titans and Chiefs since being selected by Houston in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Last season, Hopkins tallied 41 receptions for 437 yards and four touchdowns across 10 regular season games with the Chiefs before adding three catches for 29 yards and a touchdown over three postseason games, with that touchdown coming in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles.
