CLEMSON — As good as Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore were in their debut seasons at Clemson, Garrett Riley is expecting much more from his star wideouts during their sophomore campaigns.
The Tigers’ offensive coordinator met with members of the local media on Tuesday and was asked about the growth he expects to see from each of his star wideouts heading into 2025.
“I know they had great years as true freshmen, but there is a night and day difference now,” Riley said from the Allen N. Reeves Complex. “They are in a much better place than they were a year ago. They would say the same thing. It is not even close.”
Wesco and Moore had tremendous impacts as freshmen. Wesco led the team, averaging 17.3 yards per catch. He finished with more than 700 receiving yards and five touchdown catches while earning freshman All-American honors.
Moore finished with 651 yards with five touchdown grabs and averaged 14.5 yards per reception.
With each now having a season of experience under their belts and fully acclimated to the college game, Riley has seen a difference, which bodes well for quarterback Cade Klubnik and the Tigers’ offense in 2025.
“Just the muscle memory of what we do without having to think,” Riley added. “Just playing and reacting. For those guys, that will be a big jump for them. And from a technical standpoint, those guys just know they are better at what we are asking them to do. They are just trying to get better at their craft. So all those things combined, I think it will be night and day different for them.”
