CHARLOTTE — The Peter Woods seen walking around during this week’s ACC Kickoff looks a little different than the one seen walking off the field in Austin last season after Texas eliminated Clemson from the College Football Playoff.
Woods has spent much of the offseason working on his body, and one quick look at the former five-star talent reveals that the work is paying off.
“I feel great,” Woods said during the ACC Kickoff. “This is probably the best I have ever felt. I am super excited for the upcoming year and seeing how that is going to translate.”
While in Charlotte, Woods revealed that he has dropped a “tremendous amount” of weight and is currently in the neighborhood of 308 pounds. After missing three games with an injury in 2024, Woods has been determined to do everything he can to stay healthy this year.
“This year has mostly been a nutritional thing, just getting my body right,” Woods added. “I can use my whole toolbox, my whole skillset. Doing the necessary things needed to stay healthy throughout the season.”
Last season, Woods was moved outside to end before moving back inside to the interior. He finished the year with 32 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble.
After getting a small taste of the playoff, Woods and the rest of his teammates are determined to get back, and have attacked the offseason with the kind of mentality needed to make a deep postseason run in 2025.
“That is really what our whole offseason has been about, just putting in the work,” Woods said. “Knowing that we get 16 games, at best. Knowing that if we can come out here and attack the 349, nobody will be able to stop us. Making that the most important part of our year, those 349 days where we are not actually on the field.”
