CLEMSON – Clemson opened camp Thursday behind the Allen Reeves Football Complex. The media was allowed to watch the first six and a half periods on Day 1 of camp.
Below are some of the things we were able to observe from practice.
– Tom Allen truly brings a different vibe and energy to the defensive unit during practice. He is constantly giving criticism and praise, yelling into his microphone, and making his players work hard. We heard him chanting, “every rep, correct or praise” to his coaches, while chanting “nobody outworks the Tigers” when transitioning between drills.
– Cornerback Avieon Terrell was a standout performer in tackle and footwork drills. His speed and precision were clearly shown, and he showed the effort that is needed out of an upperclassman. If he can stay healthy and build upon last year, he has the potential to be great.
– Defensive tackle Caden Story was working out of defensive end this afternoon, different than his designated tackle position. He is supposed to practice with the defensive tackle in camp as well.
– Defensive tackle Vic Burley was looking strong and running with a high motor during drills. He will likely be a great depth piece on the line in 2025.
– Another cornerback who showed his skills was Ashton Hampton. During coverage tackle drills, he displayed speed was scary fast, and he fought hard to get to the targeted tackle area. His combination with Terrell in the secondary has massive potential.
– Linebackers Drew Woodaz and Fletcher Cothran both looked fast and put it all into their reps in footwork drills, and it is obvious that their power and technique are developing.
– Sophomore Markus Dixon and junior Jaheim Lawson both stood out at their position in defensive end swim and tackle drills. Their strength and body composure with their hand moves looked among the best in the drill period.
