CFP Performance Has Green Looking for More

CLEMSON — While Adam Randall and Gideon Davidson have gotten most of the attention when it comes to the Clemson running back room, there’s another who has been catching the eye of his teammates.

After suffering through multiple injuries last season, Jarvis Green is now fully healthy, and veteran Keith Adams Jr. is noticing a difference in the third-year back.

“I think Jarvis Green has been doing really well,” Adams said. “Proud of him and how he has been stepping up and everything. I don’t think a lot of people were expecting him. He has been doing a really good job.”

After appearing in just two games while redshirting in 2023, Green managed to get into nine games last season, despite the injuries. He carried the ball nine times for 53 yards, averaging right at six yards per attempt.

Now, as a redshirt sophomore, Green has put in the time working on his body in an effort to avoid another injury and remain available.

“Just staying healthy,” Green said. “Last year, I had a couple of injuries that kept me from at least competing for a spot. Just me staying healthy, trying to get my body right. Slimmed down a little bit and just trying to stay healthy and be available to the team.”

In last year’s loss to Texas in the opening round of the College Football Playoff, Green finally got a chance to show what he could do. On one of the biggest stages, he caught two passes out of the backfield, including a 25-yard touchdown, the first of his career.

Now, Green is looking to build on that performance in 2025.

“That touchdown against Texas definitely gave me a little mojo,” Green said. “It let me know that I could be here, that I could play. That if I do the right things, maybe I can help this team out a little bit.”

Before he arrived at Clemson, Green was a force to be reckoned with at Dutch Fork, totaling more than 6,000 all-purpose yards and scoring 91 touchdowns. As a senior, he was named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year after playing a pivotal role in leading the Silver Foxes to a state title.

If he can stay healthy, Green is now hoping to bring a little of that production to the field for Clemson.

“It motivated me a lot because I like to be out there with my teammates, my brothers,” Green said. “Me being out, taking a step back, it gave me a different perspective on football. Just seeing my teammates out there, I always wanted to join in with them throughout the season last year.”
