With Clemson already having its 2026 class of offensive linemen locked up, Matt Luke can turn a lot of his attention towards the next cycle and potential targets in that class.
So far, Luke has offered just six linemen in the 2027 class, and at some point, that number will grow. Three-star Jayden Dean (St. Thomas Aquinas, Ft. Lauderdale) is hoping at some point, he becomes one of the Tigers’ targets.
Since June 15, when players could start contacting players directly, Dean has been hearing a lot from assistant offensive line coach Carson Cramer.
“I have been getting love from him and the Clemson staff,” Dean told The Clemson Insider. “Every morning when I wake up, I have an edit or a motivational text. Clemson has been showing me a lot of love right now.”
While Dean has yet to visit Clemson, something that must happen before an offer can go out, that box is about to get checked. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound prospect will be on hand when Clemson opens the season at home against LSU on August 30.
The atmosphere inside Memorial Stadium on game days is something Dean is looking forward to experiencing.
“Just to see what game days are like up there in Death Valley,” Dean said. “I haven’t heard much, so this will be great for me to experience.”
Dean’s offer sheet suggests a player who many might assume was at least a four-star. He already has more than 30, with Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Oregon, Louisville, Kentucky, Florida and Florida State being some of the schools he says are currently recruiting him the hardest. He also holds offers from Ohio State, Colorado and Penn State, among others.
However, Dean isn’t overly concerned with how the recruiting services rank him. At the same time, that doesn’t mean those rankings don’t motivate him.
“Not really. I don’t pay too much attention to it,” he said. “My play on the field speaks for itself.”
One thing he is determined to do is add one of those hard-to-get offers from Clemson to his ever-growing list. That would make the Tigers a legit contender in his recruitment.
“If I get that Clemson offer, that is going to mean a lot to me,” Dean said. “Once I get the offer, I might make my Top 15 list, and Clemson would be in the top three. Clemson is going to be in the top three, for sure.”
Despite having yet to even visit, Dean already knows enough about Luke and his pedigree to know Clemson offers everything he is looking for in a school.
“The o-line play and the way they are developing their guys,” Dean said. “They prepare those guys for the NFL and after football. That is what I love about Clemson.”
