A former Clemson star was involved in a training camp scuffle on Tuesday.
The Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts had a joint practice in Baltimore, and according to reports, Ravens cornerback and former Tiger Nate Wiggins was removed from the practice after a fight broke out.
According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, benches cleared when the brawl started during a punt drill, and Wiggins intervened and was throwing punches.
Pro Football Talk summed up the brawl, after which Wiggins was ejected from the practice:
Reporters at the practice said that Colts running back Tyler Goodson and Ravens defensive back Keyon Martin got into it during a drill. Ravens cornerback Nate Wiggins left the sideline to get involved in the fracas and threw punches that led to other players from both teams getting involved.
Wiggins was sent inside once things calmed down and is watching the rest of the practice from the team’s facility.
Fights like this one are not unusual this time of year with training camps in full swing around the league, and Wiggins figures to be able to return to action in the next practice.
The Ravens are expecting big things this season from Wiggins, who is coming off a strong rookie campaign in 2024 after being drafted by Baltimore in the first round (30th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft.
In 15 regular season games, Wiggins tallied 33 tackles, 13 passes defended, a forced fumble and his first career interception – a pick-six in Baltimore’s Week 18 win over the Cleveland Browns. The former first-team All-ACC selection added six more tackles and a quarterback hit in two playoff games.
In his career at Clemson from 2021-23, Wiggins recorded 50 tackles (3.0 for loss), 24 pass breakups, three interceptions (including two returned for touchdowns), two forced fumbles, a sack and a blocked field goal over 34 games (18 starts).
