Offensive Observations: Camp Day 6

CLEMSON – Clemson Football hit the practice fields at Jervey Meadows on Wednesday for Day 6 of fall camp.

The media was allowed to watch the first four periods of fall camp. Below are some of what we saw.

– The big news, freshman offensive tackle Brayden Jacobs was seen wearing a yellow jersey at practice, which doesn’t allow them to practice.

– Additionally, sophomore offensive lineman Elyjah Thurmon was also seen wearing a yellow jersey at practice.

– Three other new players on offense appeared in yellow jerseys, Easton Ware, Rowan Byrne, and Dietrick Pennington, all offensive linemen.

– Harris Sewell was seen working with the first team at left guard during drills with the offensive linemen. He was also getting first-team reps last week when we observed practice. He also played second-team center last week.

– Running back Adam Randall continued to look dangerous on the field, with his speed and power evident. His best drill performance from receiving a handoff from Cade Klubnik before taking the ball under an obstacle and running through a medicine ball that was thrown his way. During rushing drills, the running back order looked to be Randall at No. 1, Keith Adams, Jr., at No. 2, and David Eziomume at No. 3.

– Head coach Dabo Swinney began throwing drills by speaking to his quarterbacks and receivers on a microphone, yelling out “Have speed, teach tempo. Everybody on the same page. When everything breaks down, we are just getting started.”

– The receiver room has a lot of studs. Tristan Smith looks healthy and strong, with elite bursts of speed on the ball and the eyes to match his catching skills on diving catch drills. Tyler Brown appears to be healthy as well and back to normal, with his shiftiness and coordination on full display. He was seen making a difficult diving catch over his shoulder in those same drills. Additionally, T.J. Moore can jump and get up after the ball, as he showed in practice.

– Klubnik and the rest of the quarterbacks participated in rushing drills with the running backs, and he looks like an even bigger threat on the ground as he rushed past multiple obstacles and dodged his way into the end zone. His footwork and smooth transitions between blocks look improved.
