A linebacker recruit with ties to Clemson is set to return to campus later this month.
2028 prospect Jay Schell (Rabun Gap, GA) tells The Clemson Insider that he plans to visit on August 30 when No. 4 Clemson hosts No. 9 LSU.
“I am most excited about getting to be in Death Valley for a night game and watching two of the best teams in the country play,” Schell said. “I’m excited to watch Wade Woodaz and Sammy Brown and the other linebackers and see how Coach Boulware and Coach Allen use them in the new defense.”
Schell is the son of Matt Schell, who was a quarterback for the Tigers during the Tommy Bowden years, so he has visited many times in the past. The most recent visit came back in June when Schell worked out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker already has more than a dozen offers, including Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech.
“Clemson is in my top schools,” Schell told TCI in a previous interview. “My dad played at Clemson from 1998-2001. So, Clemson has always been one of my dream schools. Coming up, going to all the Clemson games, that would mean a lot.”
