CLEMSON — Fall Camp may be over, but Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik says there is no time for the fourth-ranked Tigers to rest.
“There is still a lot of work to do,” Klubnik said.
Clemson hopes to get everything done between now and Aug. 30 when they take on No. 9 LSU at Memorial Stadium. The game is being hyped as one of the biggest games on the schedule that day and is said to the be the biggest game at Death Valley to open a season since Clemson beat Georgia in a top 10 match up to start the 2013 season.
“Obviously, I am excited to go play a game, and everything. You kind of feel the buzz going around, but there is a lot of work we still need to do,” the Clemson quarterback said.
Klubnik says the Tigers have a lot more work to do in the film room and on the practice field to get ready for an LSU team that features playmakers on both sides of the football.
“There are a lot more hours in the film and on the field that we need to have and need to be good at in order to go be great on that Saturday,” Klubnik said.
Clemson hopes it can end a trend that has seen them struggle in recent years to open a new season. The Tigers have lost three of their last four home openers, all away from the friendly confines of Death Valley, of course.
By the way, LSU has lost five straight season openers.
“I am just trying to keep it one day at a time,” Klubnik said. “You know me.”
Clemson and LSU are scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 30. The game will be televised by ABC.
