Former Tiger Released by NFL Team

A former Clemson defensive back was released by an NFL team today ahead of Tuesday’s roster cut deadline.

The New York Giants announced they have released former Tiger K’Von Wallace.

The Giants signed Wallace back on July 22 after the veteran safety was with the team on a tryout basis during minicamp in June.

NFL teams must trim their rosters down to 53 players by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

A two-time national champion at Clemson, Wallace was taken by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft following his four-year career as a Tiger (2016-19) during which he recorded 178 career tackles (5.5 for loss), 21 pass breakups, five interceptions (including one returned for a touchdown), two sacks and two forced fumbles over 59 games (36 starts).

The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder played the first three years of his NFL career in Philadelphia before being waived by the Eagles and claimed off waivers by the Arizona Cardinals in August 2023. He was later waived by the Cardinals that October and then claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans shortly thereafter.

Wallace then signed with the Seattle Seahawks in March 2024. He played nine games with Seattle this past season before placed on injured reserve last November and becoming a free agent this past March.

Overall in his NFL career, Wallace has tallied 168 total tackles, eight passes defensed, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He has made 19 career starts, including a career-high 12 in 2023, when he recorded a career highs with 89 total tackles and six passes defensed to go with an interception across 17 total games with the Cardinals and Titans.
