Former Tiger Waived by NFL Team

A former Clemson standout has been waived by this NFL team.

The Dallas Cowboys announced Wednesday they have waived cornerback Andrew Booth, just one day after he made the team’s initial 53-man roster.

Booth returned an interception for a touchdown in the Cowboys’ preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens on Aug. 16. If he clears waivers, he could potentially return to the Cowboys’ practice squad.

Booth was traded to the Cowboys in August of last year, then was released in November before signing to the practice squad shortly thereafter and later being promoted to the active roster. He appeared in seven games for the Cowboys last season, making two starts, and totaled 15 tackles with one pass breakup.

Booth began his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings after being selected by the team in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. In 23 games for Minnesota (two starts) over two seasons (2022-23), he tallied 20 tackles and a pass breakup.

Booth departed for the NFL Draft following his junior season at Clemson after recording 75 tackles (5.5 for loss), 10 pass breakups, five interceptions, a sack and a fumble recovery (which he returned 21 yards for a touchdown) across 35 career games (15 starts) from 2019-21.
