Fully Healthy, Brown Ready to Deliver Next ‘Right Hook’

CLEMSON — Sometimes it feels like Tyler Brown has become the forgotten man in the Clemson receiver room.

With the Tigers boasting so much depth at wideout, including players Antonio Williams, T.J. Moore and Bryant Wesco and Brown missing so much of last season dealing with an injury, it’s understandable why his name has been on the back burner, so to speak. It’s kind of like that old adage, out of sight, out of mind.

While Brown insists that he is eager to finally get back on the field, he’s also quick to point out that he is better for having gone through the adversity that came with missing so much time a year ago.

“I just really have a different point of view for the game now,” he said on Wednesday from the Smart Family Media Center. “Very grateful every time I get on that field.”

In fact, while he is anxious to remind everyone of exactly what kind of asset he can be to the Tigers’ offense, he also readily admits that he kind of likes not getting a lot of publicity over the offseason.

“I have always been the underdog, my whole life, and I like it, honestly,” Brown said. “We got dogs at receiver. We got Wesco, T.J., Antonio, and them boys are going to do their thing every time they go out there.”

During his recovery, he dedicated himself to getting his body right and is currently as strong as he’s been since his arrival at Clemson. By the time fall camp rolled around, Brown was feeling as good as he’s ever felt.

“Going through camp is when I felt like I was getting my swag back,” Brown said. “I would say fall camp was good for me.

Sleeping on Brown would be a massive mistake. While he may have played sparingly a season ago, he proved to be a problem for opposing defenses during his debut campaign.

In 2024, Brown was tabbed by ESPN as a freshman All-American after leading Clemson in receptions (52) and receiving yards (531), while adding four touchdown grabs.

He’s already proved his worth, and while some may have forgotten exactly how good he was as a freshman ahead of the fourth-ranked Tigers’ season opener against No. 9 LSU on Saturday, Brown is itching to get an opportunity to remind the college football world.

“When they least expect it, 6 is going to give them the right hook,” Brown said. “I like laying under the low lights, so I don’t really mind it.”
