The much anticipated season-opening matchup between No. 4 Clemson and No. 9 LSU is almost here.
Ahead of kickoff at Clemson’s Death Valley, The Clemson Insider has a pregame injury update to pass along on Jeadyn Lukus.
The senior cornerback is taking part in pregame warmups. He was out on the field with gloves and cleats.
Lukus was listed as a co-starter with sophomore Ashton Hampton at one of the cornerback spots on the depth chart Clemson released earlier today.
On Wednesday evening, during his final media availability prior to tonight’s season opener, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked if Lukus was ready to go after missing most of fall camp with an injury. “He was able to get some scrimmage work in, so that was good,” Swinney said. “We got some live work in. He missed the two actual scrimmages, but we were able to do a little couple of periods of live work that he got. So, he has been rolling for the last two weeks and looks good.”
Lukus, a former five-star prospect, played in all 14 games last year but was once again slowed by the same nagging injuries that that plagued him before. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder finished the 2024 season with 33 tackles (1.5 for loss), an interception and eight pass breakups. He started 10 games last season, but lost his starting spot to Hampton late in the year.
Lukus heads into the 2025 season having logged 49 tackles (2.5 for loss), 11 pass breakups and two interceptions in 808 career defensive snaps across 32 games (14 starts).
Clemson and LSU are set to kick off around 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ABC.
