CLEMSON — Fourth-ranked Clemson is set to square off with ninth-ranked LSU in one of college football’s biggest Week 1 showdowns.
The Clemson Insider wanted to pass along a pregame injury update on veteran offensive lineman Walker Parks.
Parks is out on the field stretching during pregame warmups. He is also listed as a co-starter at RG along with Elyjah Thurmon on the depth chart Clemson released earlier today.
On Wednesday evening, during his final media availability before tonight’s season opener, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave an injury update on Parks, with Swinney saying Parks had been able to work in pads the previous couple of days in practice and had been able to get some reps in and was in a good spot. “He is getting a lot of team work and is still working his way back to a hundred percent,” Swinney said Wednesday evening.
Parks, a sixth-year senior, was injured during Clemson’s first scrimmage of camp on Aug. 9 and did not participate in the Tigers’ second and final scrimmage on Aug. 14. Fortunately for the Tigers, the injury wasn’t overly serious.
One of the few remaining super seniors, Parks has faced his share of adversity in recent years. In 2023, Parks suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2. He logged just 123 snaps that season.
Parks bounced back last year, starting all 14 games, while earning third-team All-ACC honors.
Tonight’s game between Clemson and LSU at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is set to kick off around 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on ABC.
