During Saturday’s edition of College GameDay, legendary former Alabama coach and current ESPN college football analyst Nick Saban shared his thoughts on tonight’s top-10 matchup between Clemson and LSU.
The seven-time national championship coach discussed what he believes will be the “telling tale” in the season-opening showdown between the fourth-ranked Clemson Tigers and No. 9 LSU Tigers.
“What’s most interesting about this game to me is these two teams are very similar,” Saban said. “They both have outstanding quarterbacks that are returning. They both have outstanding skill players on the offensive side of the ball. And both of them are trying to make a significant improvement on defense. And I think how they do that is going to be the telling tale in this game.”
While Saban noted the similarities between the two teams, he also pointed out a big difference in Dabo Swinney and Brian Kelly’s programs as well.
“Clemson’s trying to do it with continuity. LSU took more guys out of the portal that were starters at Power 4 schools than anybody else,” he said. “So, it’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out.”
Kickoff from Clemson’s Death Valley is slated for 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ABC, with play-by-play man Chris Fowler and color commentator Kirk Herbstreit on the call.
