The updated US LBM Coaches Poll was released Tuesday after Week 1 of the college football season.
Clemson dropped to No. 8 in the Coaches Poll following its 17-10 loss to LSU in last Saturday’s season opener for both teams at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium.
The Tigers were ranked No. 6 in the preseason Coaches Poll.
After the win over Clemson, LSU moved up from No. 9 to No. 4 in the latest Coaches Poll.
Miami moved up from No. 10 to No. 7 after its 27-24 win over previously fifth-ranked Notre Dame, while Florida State, which was previously unranked in the Coaches Poll, is now ranked No. 19 after its 31-17 victory over previously eighth-ranked Alabama.
Another ACC team, SMU, stayed at No. 16 in the Coaches Poll after its 42-13 win over East Texas A&M.
South Carolina moved up from No. 13 to No. 11 following its 24-11 win over Virginia Tech.
Clemson returns to action this Saturday against Troy at Memorial Stadium (3:30 p.m., ACC Network).
