Last weekend, Clemson hosted a star-studded lineup of recruits for its season-opening matchup against LSU.
One of the more prominent names on hand was four-star wideout Jaden Upshaw (Lee County, GA), who was accompanied by his mother. Upshaw was making his first game-day visit to Clemson after first visiting back in March for the Underclass Experience.
“It was a great visit,” Upshaw told The Clemson Insider. “Just the atmosphere. My first game at Clemson. Coach Dabo is a great coach, and overall, it is just a great place to be.”
So far, the Tigers have handed out just one offer to a wide receiver in the 2027 class, and Upshaw feels pretty good about his chances of securing one at some point in the future. It is something he and receivers coach Tyler Grisham have already discussed in detail.
“Coach Grisham talks to me every day about it,” Upshaw said. “He was probably one of the first coaches to hit me up on June 15. We talk about everything. How I can fix some stuff with my game. Just things he sees that I can improve on.”
And after watching the Clemson offense in person, Upshaw feels like he would be a great fit.
“I feel like I am a receiver that can go down deep and get the ball, like they need,” he said. “Get yards after the catch, making moves and stuff like that. I feel like I can be an explosive weapon.”
As a sophomore last season, Upshaw had 63 catches for 842 yards with 11 touchdown grabs. 247 ranks him No. 103 overall and No. 16 among all receivers in the class.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect already holds more than two dozen offers, and plans on visiting some of the other schools he feels best about at this point throughout the season. Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Alabama, Miami and Michigan are schools he said he is planning to visit.
Even without an offer from the Tigers, Upshaw calls Clemson one of his top schools. He understands the staff there takes the process slower than most and is more than willing to remain patient.
“It would just mean a lot,” Upshaw said. “They see a lot in my game. Clemson is still a top school, even without the offer. Just waiting on them to pull the trigger.
