Each year, NFL Network unveils the “Top 100 Players” list – a prestigious honor for the players on it, as it’s voted on by NFL players themselves.
Two former Clemson stars made the “Top 100 Players of 2025” list, which was formed by current NFL players who submitted their ballots based on the performances and impact of their peers from the previous season.
Former Clemson defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, now entering his seventh NFL season with the New York Giants, landed at No. 17 on the list.
Lawrence was enjoying a stellar 2024 season before he saw it end early with an elbow injury on Nov. 28 against the Dallas Cowboys. In his 12 games this past season, the 6-foot-4, 340-pounder posted a career-high 9.0 sacks and 8.0 tackles for loss while also recording 44 total tackles, 16 quarterback hits, a forced fumble and one pass defended.
With his third straight Pro Bowl nod last season, Lawrence became the first Giants player to be voted to three straight Pro Bowls since safety Landon Collins from 2016-18. If Lawrence hadn’t suffered a season-ending injury, he could have very well earned his third consecutive AP All-Pro selection as well.
Overall, in his NFL career, the 27-year-old Lawrence has racked up 310 total tackles, 36 tackles for loss and 30 sacks in 92 career games (85 starts) since being selected by the Giants in the first round (17th overall) of the 2019 draft.
“Lawrence only played 12 games in 2024 before a dislocated elbow ended his season, but while on the field his performance was the best of his career,” NFL.com’s Coral Smith wrote. “Even missing five games, Lawrence had a career-high nine sacks, leading his team in the category behind his unique pairing of size and nimble feet. And it wasn’t just the pass rush in which he made an impact, also finishing as the second best interior defensive lineman in run defense with an 83.8 grade, per Pro Football Focus. All that earned him his third straight Pro Bowl.
“With the Giants defense often disjointed and forced into extended action last season due to the continued offensive struggles, Lawrence’s veteran presence was a balm, leading his unit on the field and off it. With rookie Abdul Carter and established pass rushers Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux set to line up alongside Lawrence in 2025, this Giants defensive front could be a sneaky dangerous group, especially if Lawrence returns healthy and plays at his 2024 pre-injury level.”
Former Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins also earned a spot on the “Top 100 Players of 2025” list, checking in at No. 77.
Higgins, a sixth-year pro, is now under contract with the Cincinnati Bengals through the 2028 season. Back in March, he finalized a four-year deal worth $115 million, with the first two years guaranteed.
The long-term deal was a long time coming for Higgins, who has emerged as one of the NFL’s top young wideouts and been a highly productive playmaker for the Bengals since they drafted him in the second round (No. 33 overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft.
So far in his NFL career, Higgins has caught 330 passes for 4,595 yards and 34 touchdowns across 70 regular season games, while recording at least 900 receiving yards in four of his five seasons, including back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2021 and 2022. Higgins has also appeared in seven playoff games and ranks second in Bengals history in both postseason receptions (31) and postseason receiving yards (457).
The 26-year-old is coming off a 2024 season in which he ranked second on the team in catches (73) and receiving yards (911) and finished tied for sixth in the NFL with a career-high 10 receiving touchdowns, despite missing five games due to injuries.
“Tee Time, Tee Time, Tee Time! Higgins makes his debut in the Top 100 list,” NFL.com’s Christian Gonzales wrote. “The Bengals WR took a chance on playing on the franchise tag, and his NFL peers noticed Higgins’ performance took a step forward. Injuries did limit Higgins’ availability, but he was a key contributor in Cincy’s offense alongside Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. The trio will have a chance to showcase their offensive talent in 2025 with Higgins and Chase earning a nice pay bump in the summer.”
