CLEMSON – Running back Adam Randall single-handedly cut Troy’s lead over Clemson 16-10 after he rushed for 59 yards on five carries to score the Tigers’ first touchdown and a deep pass to Bryant Wesco gave Clemson its first lead.
The second half-energy started when Randall broke free for a seven-yard gain to Clemson’s 32-yard line and then exploded for a 30-yard burst one play later. Quarterback Cade Klubnik rushed for 16 yards to put the Tigers deep in Trojan territory and then Randall finished it off when an 11-yard rush and a one-yard touchdown.
Though the Tigers did not complete one pass during the drive, it unlocked much-needed energy and put Clemson within one one possession since the score was 7-0 at the 12:38 mark in the second quarter.
Randall has now notched 103 of Clemson’s 185 all-purpose yards.
Two plays later, Clemson safety Ricardo Jones intercepted Troy quarterback Goose Crowder’s pass off of his backside to regain possession for the Tigers.
Klubnik finished the job with a 26-yard pass to Wesco in the end zone for Clemson’s first passing touchdown of the season.
