Eighth-ranked Clemson was without multiple starters in Saturday’s game against Troy at Death Valley, including wide receiver Antonio Williams and safety Khalil Barnes.
Following the Tigers’ 27-16 win over the Trojans, The Clemson Insider asked Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney if he thinks Williams and Barnes might be back next weekend when the Tigers play Georgia Tech.
“We’ll see,” Swinney said. “We’ll see where they are Monday. It’s kind of a daily thing. They’ll be in the training room tomorrow. I’m sure they’ll kind of give me an update on Monday, on where they are.”
Williams, who injured a hamstring early in last week’s loss to LSU, led the Tigers last season with 75 receptions, 904 receiving yards and 11 touchdown catches. All three were career-highs.
Barnes is also dealing with a hamstring. He originally hurt it during fall camp and reaggravated it in the loss to LSU. Barnes, who was a freshman All-American in 2023, entered 2025 credited with 101 tackles (5.5 for loss), 11 pass breakups, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles, a sack and a fumble recovery, which he returned 42 yards for a touchdown.
Clemson travels to Georgia Tech next Saturday for the two teams’ ACC opener. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.
