Swinney Gives Sunday Injury Update on Veteran OL

During his weekly Sunday teleconference following Saturday’s 27-16 win over Troy, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave the latest on a key offensive lineman who continues to work his way back from an injury suffered during fall camp.

Swinney said veteran OL Walker Parks was able to play about nine snaps vs. Troy.

“Injury wise, it was a pretty clean game for us,” Swinney said. “It was good to get Walker Parks back in there. I think he played maybe about nine snaps. So, it was good to get him back rolling a little bit and re-establish him and his confidence as well.”

Parks, a sixth-year senior, was injured during Clemson’s first scrimmage of camp on Aug. 9 and did not participate in the Tigers’ second and final scrimmage on Aug. 14. Fortunately for the Tigers, the injury wasn’t overly serious.

Parks missed the season-opening loss to LSU, but dressed out and was available on an emergency basis.

One of the few remaining super seniors, Parks has faced his share of adversity in recent years. In 2023, Parks suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2. He logged just 123 snaps that season.

Parks bounced back last year, starting all 14 games, while earning third-team All-ACC honors.
