Key Provides Thursday Update On QB Haynes King, DE AJ Hoffler

CLEMSON — After missing last week’s blowout win over Gardner Webb, it appears Georgia Tech will have its starting quarterback back for this weekend’s ACC opener against No. 12 Clemson.

Yellow Jackets’ head coach Brent Key updated the health status of his team during his Thursday press conference, giving away what would be on the injury report set to be released by the ACC later in the day.

Key confirmed that quarterback Haynes King will be available after sitting out last weekend with what has been described as a “lower body injury” suffered in the season-opening win over Colorado. King rushed for 160 yards in the win over the Buffaloes.

Key also noted that former Clemson defensive end AJ Hoffler is expected to return after missing the first two games with an injury. Hoffler, who is listed as a starter on the Georgia Tech depth chart, transferred following the completion of the 2024 campaign.

Key also added that CB Rodney Shelley will be available, while WR Ron Triplette is questionable.

RB Trey Maddox, DB DJ Moore, RB Savion Riley, RB Chad Alexander and DL Shymeik Jones have all been ruled out, according to Key.

Clemson opens ACC play on Saturday with a road matchup at Georgia Tech. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
