A former Clemson recruiting target is headed to the SEC.
Four-star QB Peyton Houston (Evangel Christian, LA) announced a commitment to LSU on Monday.
Houston was the first 2027 quarterback to pick up an offer from Clemson after his superb workout at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp back in June.
“It’s a blessing, honestly, knowing that they think I am the best quarterback in the class,” Houston told TCI after the offer. “I am just so blessed knowing the process that it took to get this offer from Clemson. It means a lot for sure.”
About one month later, the Tigers offered three more quarterbacks, including four-star Kharim Hughley, who committed a few days later.
“Coach Swinney and the culture itself, it is kind of similar to my home life, if that makes sense,” Hughley told TCI after his commitment. “It is an at-home feeling. Hearing others talk about Clemson, why wouldn’t anyone want to be a part of that.”
ESPN ranks Hughley No. 92 overall and No. 4 among all QBs in the class, with the service ranking Houston No. 77 overall and No. 1 among the players at the position.
