Clemson University released a new statement Tuesday morning. The University has dismissed two faculty members due to inappropriate social media content in relation to the death of Charlie Kirk.
Below is a statement from Clemson University.
The Clemson board of Trustees met for over three hours on Monday afternoon in an emergency meeting. Board Chairperson Kim Wilkerson commented from a prepared statement at the conclusion of the meeting.
“The board expects the highest level of integrity, accountability and professionalism from all university employees,” Wilkerson said.” “When individuals fall short of these expectations, especially in ways that compromise the safety of our campus community and undermine the learning environment, decisive action is not only warranted, but necessary to uphold the university’s missions and values. Accordingly, the board supports President Clements in his efforts to take immediate and appropriate measures regarding the employees in question.”
The school has been trending all weekend on social media, as lawmakers, media and others have been upset about Clemson University not being quick and decisive in firing three school employees that made inappropriate remarks on social media regarding Kirk’s death.
