ESPN Names Clemson’s ‘Most Exciting Recruit’

ESPN recently weighed in on the “most exciting recruit” for each team in the top 40 of its current 2026 college football recruiting class rankings.

Clemson’s 2026 class is currently ranked 16th nationally by ESPN, and the outlet pegged four-star wide receiver Naeem Burroughs as the Tigers’ most exciting recruit.

“Clemson’s offense is struggling so far this season. Things will only get tougher if Antonio Williams leaves after the season, and Bryant Wesco Jr. is also heading into his junior year in 2026,” ESPN’s Craig Haubert and Billy Tucker wrote.

“So the Tigers are getting ahead of a key need by adding several ranked receivers, including Burroughs. The four-star Florida native has a nice blend of speed, agility and body control. His football IQ stands out during in-person evaluations, which will only help expedite his development into a potential big-play target early on.”

Burroughs, who hails from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, is ranked by ESPN as the No. 15 wideout and No. 102 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class.

Burroughs committed to Clemson in early March during the Elite Retreat and is part of the Tigers’ 2026 class that features three wide receivers, along with fellow four-star wideouts Connor Salmin and Gordon Sellars.

Burroughs picked up his offer from Clemson in the summer of 2024 after working out at a session of Dabo Swinney’s high school camp. He had more than 40 offers in total.

As a junior in 2024, Burroughs recorded 33 receptions for 829 yards and 12 touchdowns while helping Bolles go 10-2 and reach the regional finals of Florida’s 2A playoffs. In the first four games of his senior season this year, he tallied 18 catches for 384 yards and three touchdowns.
