Top In-State RB Returning to Clemson

One of the top young running backs in the Palmetto State will be back in Clemson this weekend.

In-state back Michael Martin (Christ Church) will be on hand when the Tigers host Syracuse at noon on Saturday.

Martin, who Prep Red Zone ranks as the top back in the state for the 2028 class, was also in attendance for the season-opener against LSU.

“Clemson is just different,” Martin told TCI after that visit. “Coach (C.J.) Spiller, coach (Andrew) Zow, I speak with them every week on the phone. And the PAW Journey. Really, because of those two things, it just stacks Clemson high up there on the charts.”

Through three games, Martin has rushed for 248 yards, while averaging more than five yards per carry, and has scored six touchdowns.

Last weekend, Martin was at Syracuse. The Orange have already offered, as has Wake Forest. Oklahoma has also shown a lot of early interest.

Martin has become a frequent visitor at Clemson. He visited multiple times last season, then returned in the spring for the Underclass Experience, before working out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp in June.
