CLEMSON – The Clemson Tigers cut into Syracuse’s lead with a 38-yard touchdown pass to make the score 10-7 with 3:21 to play in the first quarter at Memorial Stadium.
The Tigers’ first drive picked up momentum when quarterback Cade Klubnik found wide receiver Antonio Williams, newly returned from injury, for a 10-yard gain. Running back Adam Randall followed up the play with a 10-yard run of his own.
After Clemson found itself in a 2nd-and-15 situation due to an illegal snap, Randall ran for nine yards to make third down manageable, and defensive lineman Peter Woods subbed in to punch it in on fourth down.
Woods’ conversion set up Klubnik to find Bryant Wesco in the end zone for his fourth touchdown of the year. The play represented the highest number of points scored in a Tigers’ first quarter this season.
