Did Syracuse players fake injuries in Saturday’s game against Clemson?
Cade Klubnik seems to think so.
Clemson’s quarterback met with the media following the Tigers’ 34-21 loss to the Orange at Death Valley, which dropped Clemson to 1-3 in a season for the first time ever under Dabo Swinney and the first time since 2004.
When discussing Clemson’s tempo on offense, Klubnik suggested that Syracuse had players faking injuries after Clemson made big plays, in order to slow the Tigers down and throw off their rhythm offensively.
“We were doing it really all throughout the game,” Klubnik said of the tempo offense. “We were playing with tempo. Props to them. They stopped us on some third downs at certain times, and then they’d have an injury or something like that when we really got going.”
Klubnik added it’s “up to them if they wanna be honest about that.”
“But that was definitely tough for us to really get in a rhythm, when we’re playing fast and then unfortunately they’d have a guy get hurt or something, or a timeout or something like that,” he said. “So, I feel like we came out really healthy, and hopefully they did too.”
Klubnik completed 37-of-60 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns with one interception against Syracuse. His pass attempts and completions were both career highs, leading a Clemson offense that racked up a season-high 503 yards but only scored three touchdowns.
