The recruiting process for Grant Ferrell is just getting started.
The 2028 OL, out of Glynn Academy (Brunswick, GA), chose to give Clemson one of his introductory visits. Ferrell was on hand last Saturday for the Tigers’ matchup with Syracuse, his first time being on campus.
“I really liked the traditions,” Ferrell told The Clemson Insider. “When they ran down the hill, that was really cool. I liked all the coaches, and I like how they are all strong about their faith and their education.”
While Ferrell is still waiting on his first offer, Georgia and Georgia Tech have also gotten game-day visits this season. UCF got one last year. He is looking to possibly get to Florida State and make another stop in Athens before the end of the season. He grew up rooting for the Dawgs.
However, while he may have grown up a Georgia fan, Ferrell said that it won’t have much of an impact on his recruitment.
“I don’t think it’s very hard, I am pretty open-minded,” he said. “I want to go to a place that accommodates me best for my athletics and my education.”
As he takes these first rounds of visits, Ferrell is looking to get an early look at each school and what they stand for as he starts to build relationships with the coaching staffs.
“I am looking to learn about what the school takes the most pride in,” Ferrell said. “Like, I am not just an athlete, I am a student-athlete. I am very strong about my faith, which I was glad to hear Clemson takes that very seriously.”
Clemson won’t start offering players in the 2028 class until next June, but it’s an offer Ferrell would love to have, seeing how he sees himself as a really good fit in Dabo Swinney’s program.
“That would mean a lot to me,” Ferrell said. “Just getting a look and the offer from that type of school would be great.”
