Clemson DB Leaves Team, Plans to Enter Transfer Portal

A Clemson defensive back is no longer with the team.

The Clemson Insider has confirmed that cornerback Shelton Lewis informed the staff of his intention to use this year as a four-game redshirt year and is expected to enter the transfer portal when it opens. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Lewis had been listed on the most recent depth chart as the backup to Misun “Tink” Kelley at the Tiger position.

Lewis appeared in three of the Tigers’ four games this season, logging 49 total snaps. 33 of those came in the loss to Syracuse, which dropped Clemson to 1-3 on the season.

He entered the season credited with 29 tackles, 10 pass breakups and two interceptions, including one pick-six.

Lewis was a three-star prospect coming out of high school and signed with the Tigers as part of the 2022 recruiting class.
