Former Tiger Waived by NBA Team

A former Clemson big man has been waived by this NBA team.

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Monday they have waived former Tiger center Viktor Lakhin, one day after signing him to a training camp contract on Sunday.

It’s a typical signing and waiving roster move for the Thunder going into the 2025-26 NBA season, as they are filling out their G League roster. Expect Lakhin to be added to the Oklahoma City Blue, the G League affiliate of the Thunder.

After spending the first four years of his college career at Cincinnati, Lakhin transferred to Clemson for his final college campaign in 2024-25. Several projections had Lakhin tabbed as a late second-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, but he would ultimately go undrafted.

Despite suffering a torn tendon in his left foot back in May, which kept him out of action for about three months, he was still on the Thunder’s 2025 Summer League roster.

Lakhin was named All-ACC Honorable Mention this past season, when the 6-foot-11 center from Russia played a key role in helping Clemson to a school-record 27 wins.

Across 34 games (33 starts) for the Tigers, he posted 11.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 1.5 assists and one steal per game while shooting 50.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3-point range.

Overall in his college career, Lakhin averaged 9.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, one assist and one block per contest, with a 54.2 percent field goal percentage and 31.8 percentage from 3-point land.
