Swinney Updates Injury Status on Clemson Lineman

CLEMSON – Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney updated the injury status on a Clemson offensive lineman during Tuesday’s press conference ahead of Saturday’s ACC Championship rematch against SMU.

Swinney says Elyjah Thurmon, a sophomore who was injured in practice ahead of the UNC game, will be out again against the Mustangs (3:30 p.m., ESPN). The Tigers’ staff will get to the open date next week, and then reevaluate the Rienzi, Miss., native.

Thurmon was sidelined for the UNC and Boston College games, due to the undisclosed injury. He was also unavailable against Georgia Tech after suffering a previous injury earlier in the season.

Thurmon played 146 snaps from scrimmage in 2024, and made the first start of his career last season against Pitt, though he suffered a season-ending injury on his first snap.

This season, the Clemson guard notched another start against Troy, playing 51 snaps. One week later, he helped the Tigers’ (3-3, 2-2 ACC) offense generate over 500 yards, and allowed only one sack. This will mark the third consecutive game he has missed, and fourth this year.

He is one of almost a half-dozen Clemson offensive linemen that have been banged up this season.
