Swinney Gives Injury Update on Sadler

Following Clemson’s 35-24 loss to SMU on Saturday at Memorial Stadium, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave an update on starting left guard Collin Sadler, who had to be carted off the field with an injury.

Sadler went down on the field injured after a play in the fourth quarter. The injury cart was brought out for him, and trainers put an air cast on his leg.

Clemson players went down on a knee as trainers put the air cast on Sadler’s leg, and most of the team, including Swinney, went over to show their support for Sadler before he was taken off the field on the cart.

During his postgame press conference, Swinney said Sadler has an ankle injury, but the test came back negative.

“The initial report on Sadler was negative, so that is a positive,” Swinney said. “That’s some good news. Negative, meaning not broken or any of that stuff, so that’s a positive, on his ankle.”

A local product from Greenville Senior High School, Sadler entered the 2025 season having previously played 683 career snaps from scrimmage over 18 games (six starts, including three at tackle and three at guard) from 2022-24. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder has started all seven games this season and had played 410 total snaps over the first six games.
