Swinney Updates Sadler’s Injury Status

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney held a Zoom conference call with the media on Monday evening.

Swinney provided an update on starting left guard Collin Sadler, who had to be carted off the field with an injury during last Saturday’s loss to SMU.

Sadler went down on the field injured after a play in the fourth quarter. The injury cart was brought out for him, and trainers put an air cast on his leg. After the game, Swinney said Sadler suffered an ankle injury, but the test came back negative. “The initial report on Sadler was negative, so that is a positive,” Swinney said. “That’s some good news. Negative, meaning not broken or any of that stuff, so that’s a positive, on his ankle.”

On Monday evening, Swinney gave an update on Sadler’s status.

“Kind of a best-case scenario on him,” Swinney said. “We thought that was a little more serious than it turned out to be. Anticipate he will continue each day. Lucky that we have an open date.”

A local product from Greenville Senior High School, Sadler entered the 2025 season having previously played 683 career snaps from scrimmage over 18 games (six starts, including three at tackle and three at guard) from 2022-24. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder has started all seven games this season and has played 410 total snaps over the first six games.

Following an open date this weekend, the Tigers (3-4, 2-3 ACC) return to the field on Saturday, Nov. 1, against Duke at Memorial Stadium (noon, ACC Network).
