CLEMSON — During Sunday’s fall ball intrasquad scrimmage at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, Clemson’s young arms continued to impress.
One of the biggest things to stand out is that some of those guys throw hard. The Tigers should have more power arms during the coming season.
Left-handed freshman Dan Margolies got the start for one team, going two strong innings. He topped out at 94 for the first time this fall and while he did walk two, he worked around them and did not allow a run.
Freshman righty Dylan Harrison started for the other team, striking out two and walking one in two innings. He did allow two hits, but worked around the traffic and did not allow a run. Harrison is also doing some hitting, trying to play both ways.
Right-hander Landon Fowler was another freshman who stood out, striking out the side in his one inning of work. He was throwing in the 92-93 range.
Freshman RHP Peyton Miller struck out two and walked one in one inning. He was in the 93 mph range. He is also doing some hitting and went deep last weekend.
Freshman Danny Nelson threw on Friday and had another solid showing. He is regularly hitting 95 on the gun.
Redshirt freshman Brendon Bennett is throwing 94. The left-hander struck out two in an inning of work on Sunday.
Veteran Drew Titsworh continues to shine in the fall. He threw one inning on Friday, striking out two and needing just 11 pitches to get through the frame. This after needing just nine to retire the side last weekend.
Transfer Ariston Veasey also continues to thrive. After striking out four in two innings last weekend, he did the same this weekend. His fastball got up to 97 in his most recent outing.
Sophomoe Dion Brown looks like a different guy. He is bigger, stronger and hitting 95 on the gun. He struck out one during his hitless inning of work.
Transfer Hayden Simmerson had a bounce-back weekend, striking out three in two innings on Friday. He gave up a few runs last weekend but still struck out five in two innings.
