Former Clemson Star Nabs Third Career NFL INT

Former Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins recorded his third career interception on Sunday, helping the Baltimore Ravens (2-5) to a 30-16 victory over the Chicago Bears (4-3) in Week 8 of the NFL season.

Around nine minutes left in the fourth quarter, on second-and-10 with Chicago backed up deep in its own territory, Wiggins intercepted Bears quarterback Caleb Williams at the 18-yard line and returned the pick 9 yards to the Chicago 9.

Baltimore led 16-13 at the time of Wiggins’ interception, and his big play set up a Ravens touchdown two plays later that extended their lead to 23-13 with 8:13 remaining in the contest.

Wiggins also posted seven total tackles, one tackle for loss and a pass defended against Chicago.

Wiggins is now in his second NFL season following a strong rookie campaign in 2024 after being drafted by Baltimore in the first round (30th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft.

In 15 regular season games last season, Wiggins tallied 33 tackles, 13 passes defended, a forced fumble and his first career interception – a pick-six in Baltimore’s Week 18 win over the Cleveland Browns. The former first-team All-ACC selection added six more tackles and a quarterback hit in two playoff games.

In six games this season entering Sunday’s game against the Bears, Wiggins had recorded 19 total tackles, one tackle for loss, four passes defended and his second career interception, which he returned 61 yards in a win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 2.

In his career at Clemson from 2021-23, Wiggins recorded 50 tackles (3.0 for loss), 24 pass breakups, three interceptions (including two returned for touchdowns), two forced fumbles, a sack and a blocked field goal over 34 games (18 starts).
