After getting noticed by the Clemson coaching staff while working out at camp over the summer, Jordan Lewis has already been back twice for game-day visits, with the most recent coming for the last home game against SMU.
The 2029 in-state OL out of Dorman, who goes by the nickname “Tank,” is teammates with current commit, four-star safety Kentavion Anderson, and he always appreciates a chance to visit with his close friend.
“It was good,” Lewis said. “I got to connect with my teammate and current Clemson commit, Kentavion Anderson. The coaches were very welcoming. Just telling me what I did on my film, correcting me on my film. What I did good and what I did bad. I just love it over there.”
Lewis’ relationship with offensive line coach Matt Luke only continues to blossom with each visit, but it’s his bond with assistant Brandon Thomas, who also went to Dorman, that is the strongest these days.
“He is very welcoming, also,” Lewis. “Coach Brandon Thomas went to Dorman, we have a very close relationship.”
However, even with the connections to the program, it’s the culture that keeps drawing Lewis back.
“It feels like I can come in there and relax,” Lewis said. “It is just a great place to be on Saturdays. Feels like home. How I got noticed by Clemson, I went to a camp over the summer and got to tour the facilities. How many graduates Coach Swinney has, that really inspires me. I am a student-athlete, but a student before an athlete.”
Being just a freshman in high school, Lewis’ recruitment is still in the very early stages. He is well aware that Clemson won’t even start offering players in his class until the summer of 2027.
“It inspires me to keep working,” Lewis said. “There is always somebody else working as hard as I am, so it keeps pushing me to keep going forward.”
Being so early in the process, Lewis is still waiting on his first offer, but the 6-foot-4, 270-pound lineman is certainly hoping to add one from the Tigers at some point in the future.
“It would mean more opportunity,” Lewis said. “It would make me very happy. They are 100% already one of my top three colleges right now.”
