Where Lawrence Landed in NFL QB Power Rankings

CBS Sports stacked up all 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL going into Week 8 of the season.

Former Clemson star Trevor Lawrence, whose Jacksonville Jaguars team (4-3) had a bye in Week 8, landed at No. 18 in CBS Sports’ NFL QB power rankings.

Lawrence checked in between C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans at No. 17, and Jaxson Dart of the New York Giants at No. 19.

In seven games so far this season, Lawrence has completed 58.7 percent of his passes for 1,620 yards and nine touchdowns with five interceptions, while also rushing for 113 yards and two more scores on 30 carries.

The 26-year-old currently ranks 15th in the NFL in passing yards, tied for 19th in passing touchdowns, and 27th in adjusted QBR (41.9).

“The Jaguars started 4-2 under new coach Liam Coen, before falling again in Week 7,” CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin wrote. “But most of their success has come on the defensive side. Lawrence is still a gifted, albeit mercurial, thrower, but his biggest issue is a lack of trusty blocking.”

The No. 1 overall pick in 2021, Lawrence is now in his fifth NFL season. For his career to date, he has a 62.8 completion percentage with 15,435 passing yards, 78 touchdown passes and 51 interceptions. He has also rushed for 1,196 yards and 16 touchdowns on 261 career carries.

The Jaguars signed Lawrence to a massive five-year, $275 million contract extension (including $142 million fully guaranteed) prior to the 2024 season, when he completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 2,045 yards with 11 touchdown passes and seven interceptions in 10 games before being placed on injured reserve in early December after his shoulder injury and concussion.

Lawrence and the Jags return to the field in Week 9 for a road game against the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday, Nov. 2.
