Clemson Answers First Duke Score

CLEMSON – The Clemson Tigers answered the Duke Blue Devils’ early touchdown with a five yard diving touchdown from Antonio Williams to even the score 7-7 with around six minutes to play in the first quarter at Memorial Stadium.

The Tigers (3-4, 2-3 ACC) started the drive, their second of the day, with a one-yard rush from Williams in Clemson territory. Quarterback Cade Klubnik then found Williams for a 20-yard reception through the middle of the field.

Klubnik and Williams, both seniors, kept that momentum going with a 64-yard catch to put the Tigers in the red zone.

Freshman running back Gideon Davidson ran for ten yards on two carries to set up Williams’ final touchdown play. The drive lasted nearly four minutes, eight plays, and 75 yards.

It marked Williams’ first touchdown of the day.

Duke then went down for a 77-yard pass from quarterback Darian Mensah to wide receiver Cooper Barkate to take another 14-7 lead.
