Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney had a message for Tiger fans following his team’s 46-45 loss to Duke on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
It marks Duke’s first win at Clemson since 1980. The Blue Devils improved to 5-3 on the season and 4-1 in the ACC, while the Tigers fell to 3-5 and 2-4 in conference play.
“I hurt for our fans, and I know our true fans ain’t going to quit on us,” Swinney said. “They’ll hang in there with us, and there will be better days ahead. There will be better days ahead.”
“We’ll get it right,” Swinney added.
The Tigers return to the field next Saturday to host Florida State at Memorial Stadium (7 p.m., ACCN).
Swinney says even with the way this season has gone, “nobody feels sorry for Clemson.”
“Florida State ain’t going to care. There ain’t going to be no pity party for the Tigers,” Swinney said. “Again, we’ve won the league eight out of 10 years. Nobody feels sorry for Clemson, I promise you. Other people know that. We ain’t getting anybody’s B game.”
