Swinney Comments On Lack of Snaps for Jeadyn Lukus

CLEMSON — Over the past three games, veteran Clemson cornerback Jeadyn Lukus has not gotten any defensive snaps.

The senior did play some special teams snaps against SMU and Duke, but he wasn’t even credited with any of those in the team’s 24-10 over Florida State.

During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Dabo Swinney was asked about the lack of snaps for Lukus in recent weeks, with the head coach noting the former five-star was not injured and that redshirt sophomore Branden Strozier has earned an opportunity to play more.

“Just playing the guys that have earned it and are playing the best,” Swinney said. “Doesn’t have anything to do with J-Lu, it is more about what Strozier has done.”

Strozier logged 28 snaps in the win over the Seminoles, recording one tackle, and Swinney believes he is the guy who has earned the right to play.

“Strozier has really made a move, and Ashton and AV are really playing well for us. J-Lu just has to stay ready. He doesn’t have an injury or anything like that. Just feel like those are the guys playing the best.”
