Both of Clemson’s touchdowns in Friday’s game at Louisville came courtesy of one player – Adam Randall.
The senior running back rushed 15 times for 105 yards with a career-high-tying two touchdowns, lifting the Tigers (5-5, 4-4 ACC) to a 20-19 victory over the 20th-ranked Cardinals (7-3, 4-3).
Randall also added three receptions for 27 yards for a total of 132 yards from scrimmage.
“That’s why we didn’t go to the portal and get a back, because we had Adam Randall,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said after the game. “And that guy deserves everything. I love that kid. I mean, he’s amazing.”
Randall – a longtime receiver who contributed at running back prior to the 2024 College Football Playoff before making the permanent position switch in 2025 – recorded his third 100-yard rushing game of the season. Clemson improved to 71-6 when having a 100-yard rusher since 2011.
Randall recorded his seventh rushing touchdown of the season on a 25-yard run in the second quarter – his longest touchdown run of the season. He later gave the Tigers the lead in the fourth quarter when he rumbled into the end zone from 1 yard out on fourth-and-goal with 7:16 left. His second score was set up by a career-long 46-yard run earlier in that drive.
“It’s his first year to play running back ever,” Swinney said. “He’s just gritty, he’s tough. … Really proud of Adam. He’s been a warrior all year.”
Randall entered Friday’s game with 116 carries for 570 yards and six touchdowns this season. He and the Tigers will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 22 against Furman at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium (4:30 p.m., The CW).
