Former Clemson Standout Waived by NBA Team

A former Clemson standout has been waived by this NBA team.

On Sunday, the Memphis Grizzlies announced that they waived center PJ Hall.

Hall signed a two-way contract with the Grizzlies back in July.

Per Grizzlies PR:

Hall (6-8 ¼, 240) came off the bench in seven games for the Grizzlies and averaged 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in 3.9 minutes after signing a two-way contract on July 20. Unselected in the 2024 NBA Draft out of Clemson, the 23-year-old South Carolina native holds career averages of 1.8 points and 1.2 rebounds in 3.6 minutes in 26 games as a reserve for the Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets.

Before being released by the Nuggets this past summer, Hall played in 19 games for Denver last season on a two-way contract. The big man averaged 1.7 points, 1.2 rebounds, 0.2 blocks and 0.2 assists per game, shooting 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the field. He averaged 3.5 minutes per game in his 19 contests.

After being released by the Nuggets, Hall played with the Charlotte Hornets this past summer, shining in Summer League play while averaging 24.2 points and 14.7 rebounds on 65.5% shooting per 36 minutes.

Hall was not drafted in 2024 but instead signed a two-way contract with Denver, thus reuniting in the Nuggets organization with fellow former Clemson standout Hunter Tyson. Tyson was picked 37th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft, with the pick being part of an agreed-upon trade to the Nuggets.

Hall became just the 14th player in Clemson men’s basketball history to earn first-team All-ACC honors in 2023-24. He averaged 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game that season, on his way to Associated Press All-American Honorable Mention honors. His 659 points set the school record for points in a season. Hall finished his career in the top 10 of Clemson’s all-time scoring list (1,702 points).
