After its win this past weekend, Clemson slid up a handful of spots in this national outlet’s college football rankings.
Coming off last Friday’s 20-19 win at Louisville, the Tigers (5-5, 4-4 ACC) now sit at No. 49 in the latest CBS Sports 136 rankings of every team in the FBS.
Clemson was previously No. 54 in the CBS Sports 136 rankings after starting the season at No. 4 in the same rankings. The Tigers are now one spot behind UNLV at No. 48, and one spot ahead of Cal at No. 50.
Meanwhile, Louisville plummeted down 14 spots to No. 35 in the latest CBS Sports 136 rankings following the loss to Clemson, which came on the heels of an upset home loss to Cal a week earlier.
“Sloppy play in a disappointing home loss to Clemson has moved Louisville down again, marking a 21-spot drop over the last two weeks because of losses to Cal and the Tigers,” CBS Sports wrote. “It was not long ago Louisville had wins over Miami and James Madison and a path to the ACC title, but now two games out of first place with one conference game left — officially eliminated from conference championship contention.”
Georgia Tech (No. 15) is the highest-ranked ACC team in the updated CBS Sports 136 rankings, while Miami (No. 16), Virginia (No. 19) and Pitt (No. 24) are the other teams in the top 25 of the rankings.
Clemson is the ninth highest-ranked ACC team, behind Georgia Tech, Miami, Virginia, Pitt, SMU (No. 32), Louisville, Wake Forest (No. 39) and Duke (No. 47).
Clemson is set to host Furman on Saturday at Memorial Stadium (4:30 p.m., The CW).
