A former Clemson target is reopening his recruitment, and being a defensive end, he would certainly fill a position of need.
Three-star Cam Brooks (Thomas County Central, GA) announced late Sunday that he was decommitting from Cal, shortly after it announced that head coach Justin Wilcox was being fired.
“Due to recent coaching changes, I will be re-opening my recruitment,” Brooks posted to social media. “Cal will definitely still be a top school.”
With three-star Dre Quinn decommitting from Clemson back in September, the Tigers are still possibly looking to add one more player at the position to the 2026 recruiting class.
Brooks attended the Elite Retreat in March and Clemson was one of his nine finalists, along with Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State, Michigan, Miami, Ohio State, Auburn and obviously Cal.
Despite have scheduled official visits with Clemson, Florida State and Miami, Brooks rather abruptly committed to the Golden Bears back in April after an unofficial visit.
Whether the Tigers go back after the 6-foot-3, 235-pound prospect remains to be seen, particularly with the early signing period less than two weeks out. Clemson does currently have an offer out to three-star in-state DE Michael Foster (Indianland), who is currently committed to ECU, but there is no guarantee that he signs early.
Brooks has close to three dozen offers in total.
